ASU's BS in Health Education and Health Promotion provides students a pathway to become a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). The program provides professional preparation in population-based health education, including school and community health. Students gain foundational knowledge in program planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as in certified health education specialist competencies, and they learn about specific health education strategies for effectively delivering community and school health interventions. Students develop an understanding of prevention programming in various topic areas including injury, violence and substance abuse prevention, sexual health, social media and marketing, emotional health, nutrition, physical activity, and stress management.
