The BSHS in Public Health-Health Education prepares individuals to plan, implement, and evaluate programs for health and human services such as those offered by health departments, voluntary health agencies, clinics, hospitals, businesses, and health-related industries. Health Educators promote health by facilitating voluntary changes in health behaviors and by advocating for policy and social change to create communities and environments that are conducive to health for all.
Coursework is aligned with the Seven Areas of Responsibility that define the role of the health education specialist. Graduates are prepared to take the Certified Health Education Specialist examination (CHES). Note: This not a teacher credentialing or a teaching certificate program.
